After a 4 hour bus ride I couldn't help but notice how similar Ecuador and Thailand are in terms of the fauna and weather. The humidity can be a bit much but at the same time I've never been able to escape it since being born in Ecuador and living in Georgia. My friend Rick who I'm staying with owns an interesting cat that looks almost like a leopard hybrid. I just had to take a picture of her.

The night started with us going to a traditional thai restaurant named river moon. It's located by the biggest market in chanthaburi and it sits right by a river, hence the name. initially it was just me and rick until his girlfriend and friends joined us a bit later in the evening for drinks. tam yum soup, whole fried fish, and a shrimp vegetable concotion was on the menu. When rick's friends showed up it became a mix of english from South Africa, Ireland, England, the Amercia. we drank longer than all the locals and stayed there until the owner came out with a bottle of aged rum to share with us on the house. we finished the bottle while our english speaking friends left for the count. The owner of the restaurant was nice enough to drive us home which was not very close. He had never drank with an Ecuadorian before but he kept up pretty well. It was a good first night in Chanthaburi.
